They enjoy jumping into things, often being seen as spontaneous but at the same time they value being practical. ![]() The type 7 personality is very enthusiastic and excited about life and new experiences. ![]() This is something which often happens during times of extreme stress, causing the person to look for answers outside of their norm because what they are used to doesn’t seem to be working for them. They often are drawn to more unhealthy versions of these behaviors and seem on edge and unlike themselves. Instead of turning to their comfort zone or the traits which they are ordinarily focused on, this type will start to pick up other behaviors. Their strongest traits are often being shown as something which is naturally foregn to them. They no longer behave like themselves and can easily be mistyped because of this. When an enneagram type moves in the direction of disintegration, they become more like a different type entirely. Knowing the enneagram gives a clearer sense of these inner motivations and even fears. It also helps to gain a deeper understanding of what motivates the people around you, and helps to comprehend why they contradict themselves at times. It isn’t meant to lock people into those weaknesses or limitations, instead it is meant to help them improve and find ways to maintain a sense of healthy balance in their lives. These beliefs drive each type and also can be limiting at times, which is why understanding them is so important. This describes 9 different enneagram or personality types, and each one possesses certain core beliefs which are what drives them. The Enneagram is a categorization of personality types based on how people perceive and respond to the world and information they gather, as well their own emotions. The whole spiral thing with the levels of health can be confusing enough without confusing it with the arrows or wings or whatever else.Enneagram Type 7 Under Stress: Enneagram Type Seven Moving in the Direction of Disintegration I also think calling the lines "growth/disintegration" is otherwise just unnecessarily confusing. Some people view that line rather differently, but this is the way that made sense to me when I first read about it, bore out under both observation and discussion. They may do this in healthy or unhealthy ways, but the move to 1 is under stress. ![]() This is what seems right when nothing else is working, in the example of a stereotype of 7, it might be that all their adventures led them to some financial difficulty, and they can't do what brings them joy, so they reach for the tools of 1 and buckle down and make a budget and berate themselves for buying things they don't need - so that they can eventually afford to bring a friend along on the next adventure. And vice versa.ĮTA - You used the term "disintegrate to a wing" and I just wanted to add that "disintegration" is usually a term used for moving along what I call the stress line, and others call the disintegration line (towards 1 from 7). I believe that someone can be in average or high health and still be acting out stress patterns, they'll just be doing so in a healthy way. So, health levels aren't the same as stress and security (what some call the two arrows, and my preferred way to understand them), so I think that racing for the tools of your nondominant wing either as a step before or simultaneously dipping out along that stress lìne. The dominant wing is usually just where any given person reaches, kind of like a spectrum from 49% 6 and 51% 7 motivations (will use the tools of 6 almost as often as 7, but barely reaches for 8 unless nothing is working to get passions fulfilled) all the way through 100% 6 motivations (equal access to both wings) and to the far end of 51/49% 7/8 (using the tools of 8 almost as much as 7). A 7 might reach for the tools of the 6 or 8 first of their usual means of avoiding being trapped (a fear in an average health level, iirc). I'm not sure the wings work that way, in theory.ĭepending on who you ask, wings are always available tools that are "at hand" to defend and uphold the core tyoe's motivation.
